Once you think you have mastered a new trick or trade, something has changed, or an improvement has been made. Now you have to go back and adjust to what has been changed or improved.
As a published author, I am constantly making adjustments and learning how to improve in certain areas. Just when I think I have a handle on things, I have to adjust. It seems like I spend more time adjusting and improving than I do writing.
