Where did your name come from?
Sooooo I was going to be named after my paternal West Indian grandmother, whose name was Wilhemenia Beryl. For some odd reason, she went by her middle name, Beryl. I’ve learned later in life that most go by their middle names, like my dad.
Then I found a list of names on that list I remember, Jennifer, Kimberly, and Noreen(kinda close to my dad’s name). Then my mom and her friend, my godmother/aunt Lily, came up with this very unusual name. Follow me now. My mom’s name is JuaNIta, and my name is ArNIttress(R-knee-tress). My mom wanted a name closer to hers but not exactly hers. Her friends tend to call me little Nita, and some call me Nit(Neat). So, in some odd way, I was named after my mom instead of my dad. Thank God. I couldn’t imagine being named Noreen. Not that it’s a bad name. It’s just not for me. Would have been easier for teachers.
When I was younger, I wanted to change my name, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve fallen in love with my name. If I had a girl, Id probably would have named her Arnittress, Jr. And would have called her AJ.🤷🏽♀️.
So you won’t find my name on any list name list for girls because it was made up. Thank you mommy.
