How do you practice self-care?
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that self-care isn’t just about having a skincare routine and hair and nail maintenance. It’s about protecting my space, sanity, and peace.
I’ve always been a yes person instead of saying no when I needed and wanted to. I was always scared. Then I thought when I asked my parents, mainly my dad, he never had a problem with saying no unless it was beneficial to him. My mom says yes even when she doesn’t want to to this very day. I had a conversation with my mom, and she said that it was ok to say no.
When I don’t feel like doing something, I say nio. Feels good.
When someone starts to cross boundaries that I set for myself instead of not addressing, I address. The person may call me mean, then I’ll be mean.
Something that doesn’t involve me, I stay out of unless the involved parties involve me, and even then, I still try to stay out of or help come up with a solution.
Most importantly, I stay hydrated and read my Bible. I do have a skincare routine and get my hair and nails done as well.
